Can You Pay Too Much For Product Placement? By Ian McQueen

Yes, thank you for reading this blog. OK seriously, as with any form of advertising, you can always overpay. But how much is too much?

First and foremost, you must throughly evaluate the product placement marketing opportunity if there is a fee involved (if working with an entertainment marketing agency, you will find that for an agency retainer fee you will not incur any additional integration costs). Is the project a good fit demographically? Is it in line with your current/future advertising and branding initiatives? How many consumer impressions? Can you measure your ROI? Will the product placement ultimately help to move your brand forward with consumers?

I definitely recommend working with an established agency or an experienced entertainment marketing consultant when evaluating these types of opportunities. If you are not experienced in negotiating branded entertainment deals, it's almost a guarantee that you will pay too much for product placement!
