Are Music Video Integrations Effective? by Ian McQueen

On August 1st, 1981, MTV changed the music video industry forever with the launch of their historic music video channel. MTV had a tremendous impact on Pop Culture, with the slogan "I Want My MTV" featured in the Dire Straits hit Money For Nothing.

Fast forward to present day, where there are many music video stations worldwide, including CMT, Fuse, VH1 and Much Music, just to name a few. In addition, with the evolution of You Tube, iTunes and the social medial revolution, the Internet has become a critical component in the promotion of music videos.

As with film and television productions, music videos have become strategic marketing tools for brands looking to reach large targeted audiences. Consumers tune in to music videos not just for the artist, but to see what they are wearing, the type of car they are driving, what they are drinking, etc.

What's great about music video integration is the quick turnaround time. Usually within a month from production, the video is added to music station play lists and distributed through online channels as well. Through music video integration, your brand has the opportunity to reach millions and millions of potential consumers at a fraction of the costs of traditional media!
